Metal Building Insulation

Metal Building Insulation provides not only long term cost savings obtained through energy savings, but also interior brightness, prevention of condensation, and sound absorption. Insulation can be installed at a fraction of the cost at the time of the building erection as compared to after the fact. Our insulation packages are cut specifically for the building size that you request.

There are several insulation systems available for a metal building:

Single Layer System

Metal Building Insulation

Insulation can be placed over the top of the roof purlins and / or wall girts prior to the exterior metal panels being installed. The fiberglass rolls are essentially sandwiched between the interior metal and the exterior sheeting. The vapor barrier is faced towards the inside of the building, giving the building a clean finished look. With a single layer application, you can achieve R-Values up to R-19, but not higher.

Double Layer High R-Value System

Double Layer Insulation System

If you want to achieve higher R-Values, two layers of insulation can be installed. Faced fiberglass rolls are installed between the purlins and / or girts, filling the cavity. They are held up with steel banding that is screwed to the underside of the purlins. An additional layer of unfaced insulation is then placed over the top of purlins or girts, creating a double layer high R-Value system.

Energy Saving High R-Value System with Fall Protection

Energy Saving Insulation

Energy saver heavy duty fabric is cut to fit and cover each bay leaving the purlins and / or girts unexposed. It is held up with banding applied in a cross pattern, providing fall protection. A first layer of unfaced insulation is installed between the purlins, filling the cavity, with a second unfaced layer going over the top. Roof and wall sheets are then installed over the top of the insulation. The double layers achieve high R-Values.

Thermal Blocks

Thermal Insulation Blocks

Thermal blocks are typically 1" thick and installed directly to purlins or girts. They provide additional R-Value to the fiberglass insulation system. They also provide a thermal break between the interior steel and the exterior panels. They are typically used in conjunction with a single layer or double layer fiberglass insulation system. They are easy to install and help meet energy codes.

Foam Insulated Panels

Foam Insulated Panels

Foam insulation panels consist of 3 layers: (1) The exterior metal skin available in several options, (2) The foam insulation core available in several thicknesses, determining the R-Value (7.5 per inch), (3) The interior metal liner. Foam insulated panels offer any metal building high R-values, excellent thermal performance, airtightness, moisture control, and a clean finished look on the interior and exterior of the building.

Fiberglass Insulation Roll Options

Foam Insulated Panels

When choosing metal building insulation, there are several thicknesses or R-Value's to choose from ranging from 2 5/8" R-8 to 9.5" R-30. Up to 6" R-19 can be used in a single layer appliction. Multiple thicknesses or layers can be combined in a double layer system to achieve high R-values. This is dependent on the depth of the purlins / girts. In addition to the thickness, there are also several options for the facing vapor barrier.
