Steel Building in Benson, North Carolina
Metal Building Outlet supplied this pre-engineered steel building for a customer in Benson, North Carolina, in March of 2022.
Durable, sustainable and engineered for the specific climate characteristics of the area, the insulated metal building now serves as a shop and is 48’x60’x14’ in size. It has high overhead clearance and a wide clear span, maximizing usable space, and overhead, a corrosion-resistant Galvalume steel gable roof with a modest 2:12 pitch provides reliable protection from the elements.
The steel shop has (5) framed door openings that offer access inside, among them (2) 3070 openings that will house (2) White walk doors and (3) 12’x12’ framed door openings housing (3) Satin White roll-coil doors with chain hoists. It also has a collateral load #1, which accommodates additional dead loads hung from the metal building.
Inside the roof and walls of the metal shop are 4” of R-13 insulation. The insulation features heavy-duty facing on the side that faces inward, which helps protect the insulation blankets while giving the interior of the shop a clean, finished look.
A 10-psf roof snow load and a 120-mph wind speed rating keep the steel shop compliant with local building codes while making the structure more durable with respect for its environment.
