Metal Building in Meadow Lake, Alaska
Metal Building Outlet supplied this prefabricated metal building for a buyer in Meadow Lake, Alaska, in April of 2019.
Rugged, durable and heavily insulated to allow for year-round use in Alaska’s variable climate, the building stands 40’x50’x16’ in size once erect, and it now functions as a shop. Constructed using top-of-the-line steel components, the building boasts an open, clear-span design, while a corrosion-resistant Galvalume Plus roof with a 3:12 pitch protects the interior of the workshop from above.
Distributed throughout the steel workshop are (3) framed openings, among them (1) 12’x12’ opening enclosing (1) 12’x12’ overhead door and (2) 3070 openings, each housing one of (2) 3070 walk doors. A high-performing insulation package serves as another shop characteristic, with R-19 insulation installed within the workshop’s roof and walls. In addition to keeping building users comfortable, regardless of outside temperatures, the insulation helps mask noise emanating from the space, and it also lowers energy bills associated with the property. Other customizations made in accordance with local building codes and in consideration of the region’s typical weather patterns include a 115-mph wind speed rating and a high, 70-pound snow load.
Part of the Anchorage, Alaska Metropolitan Statistical Area, Meadow Lakes falls within the borders of Alaska’s Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The community sits about 51 miles from Anchorage and about 8 miles northwest of Wasilla.
