Prefabricated Metal Personal Shop & Lean-To in Cortez, Colorado
A resident of Cortez, Colorado, wanted a versatile metal shop building that combined an enclosed, indoor shop area with covered outdoor space and tasked Metal Building Outlet with getting the job done.
Metal Building Outlet secured this pair of custom metal buildings for the client in September 2024, with one serving as a traditional shop space, and the other, an attached, open-air metal lean-to. Attractive and thoughtfully designed, the main steel shop offers 1,500 square feet of unobstructed interior space, while the lean-to provides another 700 square feet of sheltered outdoor space ideal for storage, work and more.
The client chose to insulate the main shop building to boost comfort and optimize it for year-round use, installing a 6”, R-19 fiberglass insulation system into the roof and another 4”, R-13 fiberglass insulation system in the walls. Both the roof and wall insulation have WMP-VRR+ facing, helping protect the blankets from moisture and damage while giving the inside of the shop a clean, complete look.
The main shop area also boasts four large windows, allowing natural light inside while reducing the owner’s wintertime reliance on artificial heating options. Spacious, well-appointed and multifunctional, the metal shop and lean-to give the owner a safe, year-round space to work, store goods, enjoy hobbies or otherwise utilize as he likes.
