Metal Building Outlet sourced this prefabricated metal shop building for a customer in Dolores, Colorado, in May of 2019.

Offering supreme energy efficiency, the building boasts a finished size of 45’x45’x16’, and it features an open, clear-span design that maximizes usable floor space. Now functioning as a shop, the building features top-quality steel construction, while a heavy-duty, hardwearing Galvalume roof with a 2:12 pitch protects against the elements and corrosion from overhead.

Distributed throughout the metal workshop are (10) framed openings varying in terms of size and purpose, among them (2) 10’x10’ openings, (1) 12’x14’ opening, (1) 3070 walk door opening and (6) 3030 windows that brighten up the interior by letting natural sunlight stream inside. A high-performance insulation package, which includes R-38 insulation in the roof and R-19 insulation in the walls, helps lower energy bills associated with the workshop while enhancing interior comfort for building users.

Additional key features and customizations include a high, 50-pound snow load and a 115-mph wind speed rating; inclusions made in consideration of the typical climate of the region as well as the building codes governing construction at the build site. A small, lightly populated community in southwestern Colorado’s Montezuma County, Dolores is located at the mouth of the Dolores Valley. The community sits about 65 miles southwest of Telluride and roughly 12 miles north of Cortez.
