Pre-Engineered Metal Municipal Building in Tonkawa, Oklahoma

Metal Building Outlet sent the steel building kit for this custom commercial shop building to a repeat customer in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, in November 2024.

Supplied for use by a local fire department, the highly energy-efficient, fire-resistant steel shop building boasts more than 5,465 square feet of flexible interior space the community can use to house firetrucks, store supplies or use for equipment maintenance or firefighter training. The building features customizations throughout, from 4’ overhangs along all four walls that create usable, covered outdoor space to a high R-value insulation system that keeps energy bills low and interior temperatures comfortable and stable throughout the year.

The roof houses an R-32 multi-layer Energy Saver insulation system with a White liner panel covering the fiberglass insulation blankets, while the walls contain an R-25 single-layer insulation system held in place InsulHold coils, banding and screws. The steel commercial shop also features sculptured gutters and downspouts to help divert moisture away from the building and preserve its structural integrity.

As far as aesthetics, the shop has Old Town Gray wall panels, a complementing Cool White roof and Steel gray panels above the doors that match the gutters and downspouts. The metal firehouse also has high wind and snow loads to enhance durability with respect for the climate characteristics of the area.

Durable, economical and easy to raise and maintain, this metal municipal building serves as an attractive and functional addition to the community that firefighters can rely on for years to come.
