Custom Prefabricated Steel Airplane Hangar in Cortez, Colorado

A resident of Cortez, Colorado, came to Metal Building Outlet when he needed a safe, secure place to store aircraft, and Metal Building Outlet accommodated, sending this custom metal airplane hangar to Cortez for erection in August 2024.

The building had to be both sturdy and well-suited for storing temperature-sensitive aircraft, as high temperatures can hinder performance and make it harder for planes to take off safely. This insulated metal hangar offers 4,200 square feet of unobstructed interior space for storing planes or helicopters, while 6” of R-19 roof insulation and 4” of R-13 insulation with heavy-duty VRR+ facing keep inside temperatures ideal for aircraft storage.

The steel hangar has several access points in various sizes, including a large bifold hangar door that can easily accommodate planes with different wingspans. Engineered to maximize durability and meet local wind and snow load requirements, the building gives the owner a reliable, all-season place to store valuable assets while protecting them from extreme temperatures, the elements and other potential hazards.
