Steel Farm Building & Kitchen in Port Allen, Louisiana
Metal Building Outlet supplied this metal farm building and kitchen for the owner of a pecan orchard in Port Allen, Louisiana.
The owner bought the building at a discount during a Metal Building Outlet promotion at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado, in January 2023, and Metal Building Outlet worked in close conjunction with the client to design a building to meet his needs.
Insulated and energy-efficient, the Light Stone steel farm and kitchen with Burnished Slate trim has R-19 faced insulation blankets in its roof and R-13 faced insulation blankets in its walls. The insulation keeps working conditions comfortable inside, and it also reduces the owner’s energy bills.
Spacious and well-lit, the metal kitchen and far building has several windows letting natural light inside and an open, column-free interior that maximizes usable floor space. The building also has a 6’ eave extension along one side wall, creating a covered, shaded outdoor area.
Engineered for the climate characteristics of the region, the steel farm building has a high wind load and gutters and downspouts along the roof that help prevent moisture from getting inside and causing condensation.
