Prefabricated Steel Shop Building in Colorado Springs, Colorado
Metal Building Outlet supplied this custom metal shop building for a client in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in mid-June of 2024.
Energy-efficient and customized to meet the buyer’s needs and accommodate the area’s strong winds and seasonal snowfall, the metal building functions as a shop and offers 1,200 square feet of unobstructed floorspace inside. On the outside, the metal shop has 18” overhangs on all four sides, which keep rain and snow from coming in contact with the walls while creating additional space for storage or other use.
Sculptured gutters and downspouts along both side walls further defend against moisture by diverting rain and snow away from the shop and its foundation, helping prevent water damage while maximizing structural stability. Designed for year-round use in Colorado, the steel shop building also contains an insulation package.
The roof has 6” of VRR+-faced R-19 insulation installed inside, while the walls contain 4” of R-13 VRR+-faced insulation. While the insulation package regulates inside temperatures, keeping them comfortable and consistent regardless of temperatures outside, the fiberglass insulation blankets also help muffle noise and prevent condensation, keeping the interior quiet while preserving the building’s integrity.
Other notable customizations include four 4’x4’ windows, which allow natural light inside and reduce the building’s owner’s reliance on artificial heating systems.
