Prefabricated Steel Shop Building in Eastsound, Washington
A resident of Eastsound, Washington, needed a custom steel shop building engineered for life on Orcas Island in northeastern Washington and purchased the pre-engineered metal building kit for the project from Metal Building Outlet in July 2024.
Great for a variety of uses, the clear-span personal shop building has 980 square feet of flexible interior space the owner can use for storage, as a workspace or for personal projects. Featuring Brown walls, a matching, corrosion-resistant roof and Black architectural trim, the metal shop blends well with its natural surroundings and keeps occupants and assets stored inside protected from moisture, coastal humidity and the Pacific Northwestern elements.
Notable features include six windows in two sizes that let natural light inside and gutters and downspouts along both side walls, which help moisture drain off the roof without compromising the integrity of the shop’s outside walls. There are also 1’ overhangs along all sides, offering additional protection for the exterior walls while creating covered outdoor storage space and adding visual interest to the structure.
Designed for the precise climate characteristics of the area, the shop also adheres to local wind and snow load requirements, enhancing durability while ensuring a safe, comfortable place to store goods, work on projects or otherwise use as the owner likes.
